Survived Medschool! {Part 1} : Study Week Moments

*cough cough*

Hi and salam dear fellow readers :)

It has been 28 days since the final day we seated for our Professional II Exam which was from 6th - 16th Aug 2018. So how was the feeling huh Hajar? Yep if I were to be reaaaaaally sincere to you, I must say it was a miracle. I still could not believe it tho the fact that I had passed that REALLY BIG exam. huh, survived! (Alhamdulillah) 😆

Fast rewind to few days before exam, shall we?
I wanted to share my feelings and emotions here too so that I can datang here again to remember how was the struggles during the journey.

So we officially ended our 2017/2018 sessions on 28th June, memang betul betul after Paediatric clinical exam both long and short cases.
Untuk long case aku dapat 'A Teenager Who Comes For Regular Monthly Blood Transfusion'. I was almost nearly 100% prepared for this as this is bread and butter which you have to know in and out! 100%!
Untuk short case aku dapat soalan 'A Child with Syndromic Face on a Face Mask'. Upon examination there were many features of Down Syndrome elicited. Yupe he is. Otherwise he needed further assessment to ensure the current diagnosis that time. *** Having clinical examination with Prof W always comforting to the point that I can show my true inner self. Do you know that one of the quality to be a dr, that one should have confidence and reliable?

**
Paediatric posting/department really is such a nice environment to be working in in the future. I have no difficulties in managing small sizes patients compared to the larger one. At least you will need to master in skills to approach child je lar 😅 if you already entered the Surgical or Orthopaedic posting, you will understand my point. Okay takpe we will need to enter housemanship later to know the reality Hajar! :)

Then officially our STUDY WEEKS for 5 weeks duration starts!

...which we started off by creating study group schedules first.
There are 8 people in a group. We listed down ALL POSTINGS we learnt throughout clinical years and fit them appropriately how we wanted in the schedule. For heavy postings such as Internal Medicine, Paediatrics kitorang perlukan about 5 days because too many discussions needed. Memorization, understanding and clinical skills application comes together with the knowledge. Yep. Twasss the objective!

& day by day.. Went to hospital doing clerking in the morning, bought our lunch then going back to hostel only to have a lunch break before we started doing our own notes according to everyday personal task & do a summary regarding the case we clerked that morning. By night semua dah bersedia dengan presentation masing-masing sampailah habis. 😜 Ahhhh its a totally non stop journey (which was craaaaay!) But i did stop sometimes when I am feeling not really well.. Yep do not force yourself too much. If it is too tiring, have a rest. Go cinema watch movies etc. If it is unbearable, have friends to talk too. You will never be alone in this profession, unless you are the person who decided to be alone.

Internal Medicine
Paediatrics
Psychological Medicine
Orthopaedics
Surgery
O&G
ENT
Ophthal
Anaes
and the list goes on

Pls understand the topic entirely.
Finish your CPG. Faham betul betul the management. Dengue, heart failure, ACS, asthma, copd, thalassemia etc. ALL THAT common is common tu lar. Each of them masuk MTF, OBA, PBQ, OSCE 💪💪 I guess I need to stop here for now.

P/s: if any of you have questions on regarding which textbooks/references/students notes are good for final year medical students, I am always available to help and guide you with it ok? Just hit me up ✋😆
